Biography[edit]

Le Comte de la Pérouse (the Count of Pérouse), was a Frenchman whom Sir Edward Howe cited as another European expert on oriental dragon breeds. The count published his journals documenting his interactions with dragons in many parts of Asia. Pérouse was one of the first Europeans to meet a dragon of the Imperial breed: the one he met having been in the court of the Korean monarch. Sir Edward Howe provided Laurence with a copy of the count's journals after the meeting where he mistakenly identified Temeraire as an Imperial (breed) dragon. The Comte was one of the first adventurers and explorers to surround Australia.
