Biography[edit]
Sutton was the most senior of the captains in Lily's formation. He was initially given command of the formation over Catherine Harcourt when she was just out of training. In the summer of 1807, he was described as ten years older senior to William Laurence, who was then in his early 30s.
Given to "pessimism and colorful language", Sutton was a veteran of four wars with thirty years of experience. His Yellow Reaper, Messoria, was not the largest of dragons, but together they were formidable because of their experience.
It is unknown whether Sutton was Messoria's first captain, due to narrative inconsistency about her age.
