Biography
Because of his familiarity with Chinese culture, Arthur Hammond was deputized by the Ministry and sent with William Laurence and Temeraire on their journey to China. He was approximately twenty years old at the time.
Hammond's job was to restore relations between Britian and China, which often put him at odds with Laurence, who wanted nothing more than to remain Temeraire's captain.
Hammond had untidy dark hair and a thin, sallow face.
