Biography
Blythe was the armorer's mate for Temeraire. He was best-known for the incident that took place on the HMS Allegiance that set the sailors and aviators against each other.
Reynolds, one of the Naval officers on the Allegiance, had been goading the aviators for some time. He exchanged words with Ezekiah Martin and made to offer him a challenge. Blythe knew Martin was not a good fighter, so he struck Reynolds in order to stop the challenge. Despite his noble intent, William Laurence had to have Blythe flogged for striking an officer. Martin was wrecked with guilt until Blythe got better.
