He was unable to tolerate Jeremy Rankin, the grandson of his first captain, so he moved into teaching new dragons. He was stationed at Loch Laggan where he was the training master for several years. He was known to have trained Lily's formation, particularly Lily, Maximus and Temeraire who all hatched in the year 1905. The fact that he was the training master for the Aerial Corps was kept secret because it might have caused a scandal were it to became publicly known.

Celeritas was a scholar of ariel tactics. He claimed "two hundred years" of experience. It is certain that he knew one of the works by Sir Edward Howe. However, it is unclear whether Celeritas read it himself or it was read to him.
He wore a golden ring studded with a jade stone around his neck, presumably a gift from one of his captains. He was described as yellow with green Reaper markings, though following the Dragon Plague he was said to have turned more of a "bronze" shade and the green markings dulled.
