Biography

Celeritas (Latin for 'speed') was a very aged dragon who served with at least two captains of the Rankin family. He was unable to tolerate Jeremy Rankin, so he moved into teaching new dragons. He was stationed at Loch Laggan where he was the training master. This fact was kept secret because it might have caused a scandal were it to became publicly known.

During the time of Napoleon's invasion he retired from his post and went to the breeding grounds in Ireland.

It is certain that he knew one of the works by Sir Edward Howe. However, it is unclear whether Celeritas read it himself or it was read to him.

He wore a golden ring studded with a jade stone around his neck, presumably a gift from one of his captains.
