Biography

Ertegun was a Captain serving in the Ottoman Dragon Corps on the asian side of the Bosphorus Straits, east of Istanbul. He was the captain of a Turkish middle-weight (name and breed unknown), who looked as though it had been on guard duty too long, as it was noticed they had "gone to seed," as spoken by Granby, and was no longer in full fighting shape.

He was bearded, and spoke both Turkish and French.
