Fanshawe

The son of an earl, Fanshawe is (presumably junior) lieutenant on the HMS Reliant during the captaincy of William Laurence.
After the Amitie is captured along with the dragon egg that will hatch Temeraire, Laurence decides that lots will be drawn among the officers to attempt to harness the dragonet. Fanshawe is clearly displeased by the prospect of becoming an aviator and is reprimanded by Laurence for his attitude toward the Aerial Corps.
