Biography

Ferris was promoted to Temeraire's captain of topmen after he demonstrated courage in battle during a boarding engagement at the Battle of Trafalgar.

Ferris became acting second lieutenant after Evans was injured in the Valerie engagement and sent home. He was not as experienced and had difficulty at keeping the men in line.
