Species Notes[edit]
This breed of dragon was once very common in Britain but are now rare. They were considered poorly tempered and aggressive by nature. They are almost extinct, but a few wild Widowmakers can be found in Scotland, and others in the breeding grounds.
Sir Edward Howe has noted that the Widowmaker appears to be related to the French Pecheur-Couronne and Pecheur-Raye breeds, "if we may judge by wing confirmation and the structure of the breast-bone, which... is keeled and fused with the clavicle."
The coloration of Widowmakers was considered ideal for concealment in the sky. For this reason they were crossed with the more friendly Winchester breed and produced the Greyling.
