Ship History

HMS Aboukir was a 74-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. She was named after the fleet action in Abu Qir Bay.

The Aboukir was serving in the Channel blockade at the time Napoleon's armies invaded Britain in December 1807. She, like the Goliath, had been harpooned and entangled by the French dragons, enabling the French fleet to sail from the port of Calais and land on the British coast.
