The ''Allegiance'' is the dragon transport that carries [[Temeraire]] to China. It is captained by [[Tom Riley]], who asks for the post because [[William Laurence]] suggests it. It was meant to be captained by [[Cartwright]], who served wtih Laurence on the ''Goliath'', when it was bound for Halifax.
