Ship History[edit]

HMS Sultan was a 74-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 19 September 1807, at Deptford Dockyard.

The Sultan was serving in the Channel blockade at the time Napoleon's armies invaded Britain in December 1807. She, like the Goliath, had been harpooned and entangled by the French dragons, enabling the French fleet to sail from the port of Calais and land on the British coast.
