Ship History

HMS Vanguard was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on the 6th of March, 1787, at Deptford. She was the fifth vessel to bear the name.

She was present during the evacuation of Danzig, along with 2 64-gun ships of the line, several frigates, and in Danzig harbor, transports originally present to get Russian reinforcements for the city. Captain Gerry Stuart was her Captain at the time, and helped to coordinate the evacation of close to 15,000 Prussian soldiers from the fortification at Danzig by Temeraire and the band of Turkish feral dragons led by Arkady.

She also participated in the Battle of the Nile, in 1798.
