Biography

Keynes was the dragon-surgeon assigned to Temeraire's crew. He was well versed in dragon-care before being assigned to Temeraire. He had salt and pepper hair and carried himself with authority. He often spoke brusquely to others.

When he learns of the dragon plague that has ravaged the British dragons, Keynes promptly leaves Temeraire's service to be of use to the sick dragons. He is replaced by Dorset, who is not as skilled.
