London covert
By 1805, the London covert was over 100 years old and rather worn down. It had been given up by the Aerial Corps except for use by couriers.
A city covert, it was small, situated on the western side of the Thames river. There were abanonded and low-income homes nearby, owing to the fact that most people did not want to live near dragons. The gates of the covert, however, were kept in good repair and shined in contrast to the area around it.
After the Battle of Dover, the aviators hire musicians to play for the dragons temporarily billeted there, including Temeraire, Maximus, and Lily.
When the decision is made to send Temeraire back to China after the Chinese learn of his presence in Britain, he is kept at the London covert while attempting to persuade him to leave.
