Nitidius (Latin for 'more radiant')is a more experienced dragon who has been put in Lily's formation along with Messoria and Dulcia to balance out the inexeperienced Lily, Temeraire and Maximus.
His egg was purchased from the French, before the two nations became enemies; thus, he speaks both French and English.
He is described as a nervous creature and Warren must stay with him when he, Temeraire and Dulcia visit the Agincourt which the Naval Officers take as a slight.
