Editing Pollitt

The ship's surgeon aboard the [[HMS Reliant]] at the time the [[Amitie]] was captured in early 1805.  Pollitt also served as the surgeon onboard the [[HMS Allegiance]] during the journey to China with [[William Laurence]] and [[Temeraire]].

He had a keen interest in [[:Category:Dragons|dragons]] and some knowledge of their physiology.  He owned or was familiar with several books on the subject, including [[Badke]]'s [[Bestiary]].

Pollitt hailed from Derbyshire and had a wife and four children.  He became a navy surgeon fairly late in life, at the age of 30.  He was genial and well-liked by the crews with whom he served, though at times he seemed to be rather oblivious to the crew's reactions to events.
