Queen Louise of Prussia appeared at the Battle of Jena-Auerstadt. She rode among the Prussian soldiers wearing a Colonel's coat and waving a Prussian banner. William Laurence believed she was the heart of the Prussian War Party, because she had opposed Napoleon Bonaparte for many years.
When the battle was lost, Laurence once again encountered her. He had accidentally fallen asleep waiting for an audience with Hohenlohe and she roused him, not a bit angry with him for dosing off.
