That's always a possibility...I'm sure a few inaccuracies slipped through.  I think we should simply leave it that Choiseul was mistaken (by accident or on purpose) and it is located in Dijon, like the Brits name theirs.

What's curious about this covert, is that Choiseul states that the Dijon covert is near the Rhine river, but the city of Dijon is nowhere near the Rhine.

Here are the various alternatives...

1 - did he mistake the name of the river (the Saone river is near Dijon) whether intentional or not. I would think that the established French coverts would be well known by the British, so why would Choiseul try to mislead the Brits?

2 - are the coverts not named after locations, but simply given code names, and the 'Dijon' covert is near the Rhine river.

By the way, it's on page 243 of HMD, first full paragraph.

Any thoughts?
