Novik said in her journal re: Excidium's experience: "I have not worked out details about Excidium's lineage yet and may need to in a future story, so I will not commit myself to this, but Jane probably became his captain early and is now in her late thirties, so she would account for the last 15 years or so; a successful, long-lived captain, hearty into old age, could even so probably not account for more than 50 years, so I would think Jane has had at least two if not three predecessors." -- strangerface

With 2 epaulettes would Excidium not be a Commodore, like Temeraire, as opposed to a Commander as the text says?Bluedruid 21:24, 25 September 2011 (MDT)
