Just a note - doing research, the original HMS ''Aboukir'', the former French ship ''Aquilon'', was captured by the British at the Battle of the Nile in 1798 and broken up in 1802.  The second 'Aboukir'' was launched in November of 1807, which does not allow for enough time for her to be placed on blockade duty in the Channel fleet.  My thoughts are that the ''Aboukir'' mentioned in VoE is the original, which was never broken up, since she was launched in 1790, making her only 18 years old at the time of the invasion.  -- [[User:Sjolly75|Sjolly75]] 01:37pm, 12Oct08 EDT

Just a note - doing research, the original HMS Aboukir, the former French ship Aquilon, was captured by the British at the Battle of the Nile in 1798 and broken up in 1802. The second Aboukir was launched in November of 1807, which does not allow for enough time for her to be placed on blockade duty in the Channel fleet. My thoughts are that the Aboukir mentioned in VoE is the original, which was never broken up, since she was launched in 1790, making her only 18 years old at the time of the invasion. -- Sjolly75 01:37pm, 12Oct08 EDT
