Biography

Sir Thomas Foley was a British naval officer and a hero of the Battle of the Nile. He led the HMS Goliath around the French vanguard, contributing significantly to the day's success for the British forces.

According to William Laurence, Captain Foley handpicked him as first lieutenant after Laurence's successful rescue of the crew of the HMS Normandy.
