Biography

Tri is a Russian dragon in the Twenty-Sixth Regiment of the Air, though he likely does not know it. His captain, Vasya, was left in charge of all human matters. He is probably only concerned with his great treasure, which he sleeps on like a bed. He does not likely speak Russian, probably only a feral language similar to Durzagh.

Tri took part with Captain Vasya in the battle for Smolensk against Napoleon Bonaparte's French forces, before Tri was badly wounded. The two stopped at the Moscow covert, where Vasya asked Captain Ivan Rozhkov to stitch up Tri's wound and get him settled.

Captain William Laurence noted that Tri was "a beast on Vosyem's scale, enormous and armor-plated". It is very likely that Tri is the same breed and color as Vosyem.

Vosyem and Tri, according to Temeraire's observations, looked "very imposing...despite their size, they demonstrated a remarkable speed. Their steel-taloned claws and long necks lashed out very much as though...there was gunpowder lit behind them. But as they demonstrated their fighting qualities, for the most part, by quarreling with one another and knocking about the smaller beasts...they were all outrageously quarrelsome with one another, at least the heavy-weights were." (Blood of Tyrants, p. 337-340)

Temeraire noticed that there didn't seem to be very many of Vosyem and Tri's breed, and all had wounds of some sort that had not been treated properly. At least three had pistol-balls still lodged into their hides.
