Biography[edit]
He is the youngest midshipman onboard the ship during the voyage to China. His family, who has got three seats in parliament, forced Riley to take him onboard because the boy was lazy and spoiled. The main reason for him being on the Allegiance is to get educated and disciplinated. He develops well during the voyage. He is plump and not very carismatic, doesn't know any social conventions what strikes very much during the dinner with the Chinese. During the voyage he grew very much and his jacket needed to be enlargened in an ugly way with blue pieces of sail-cloth. Nevertheless his jacket is still too small for him. He becomes a sufficent sailor.
