Along with the [[Chanteuse]] and a [[Fleur-de-Nuit]], the Valerie attacked the [[HMS Allegiance]] under the cover of night while it was journeying to China. The Allegiance was outgunned and outnumbered and was in great danger of being taken, until [[Temeraire]] used the [[Divine Wind]] against the Valerie, and she capsized and sank in the wave that followed. The entire complement of 300 was lost.  (See [[Valerie engagement]].)
