Biography

In 1805, Victoriatus was one of several dragons from the Edinburgh covert who responded to a distress signal from the city of Aberdeen. An air battle over the North Sea followed, and Victoriatus helped to drive off the French attack, but was wounded. Maximus and Temeraire were called from the Loch Laggan covert to carry him there so he could receive medical attention.

During the exchange, Victoriatus unknowingly injured Temeraire, leading to the events that reconcile John Granby and William Laurence.

Victoriatus was well enough to take part in the Battle of Dover.

He was also the dragon that told Temeraire about whores, along with another dragon named Vindicatus (although this may just have been a misspelling of Victoriatus' name).

When Laurence arrives back in Britain after being away in China, he is shown Victoriatus ill with the dragon plague. His captain, Richard Clark, is by his side also appearing ill. Laurence later learns that Victoriatus succumbed to the disease and died sometime around the time Temeraire was put into quarantine with Sauvignon.
